Page 1 of 2 On 19 November 2009, CERF will be celebrating its 80th anniversary in La Bretagne, where the first experiment station was set up in 1929. Two major events have been scheduled during the evening: the presentation of R 584, the latest variety released in Reunion Island, and the unveiling of CERF’s new name. R 584 is the first variety to come from the station in Etang-Salé, opened in 1987, and is particularly adapted to the irrigated areas in the south-west of the island. CERF, the Centre d’Essai, de Recherche et de Formation will cease to exist, but only under that name! It will now be called eRcane. A large number of guests have been invited to help us celebrate the event, including growers, professionals working in the sector, institutional partners from Reunion Island and international partners.
