Created in 1985, eRcane’s Sugar Processing and Industrial Innovations Department assists the sugar industry in optimising all the different stages of sugar processing and in implementing research and development programmes. The department is headed by Laurent Corcodel.
Its laboratory serves as a reference for the two sugar factories in Reunion Island, in close relation with ICUMSA (International Commission for Uniform Methods of Sugar Analysis).
The department also exports its expertise to Congo, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d’Ivoire, Colombia, Algeria, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Senegal.
