Sugarcane technological quality
In 2007, eRcane launched an innovative research programme aimed at identifying indicators of sugarcane technological quality. Many parameters affect the cane composition, as well as the mill’s sugar recovery performance.
This theme involves work in the field, laboratory and sugar mill. The studies are focused on cane degradation during the period between harvest and cane crushing, the sugar gradient in cane stems, the distribution of the cane delivered as millabke stems, leaves, tops, etc.
These topics are addressed from several angles: the impact of growers’ practices on the cane composition, on raw material purchases and on the sugar recovery process.
